Favorites

Hopefully, I will soon be caught up with posting all of my art on this blog so I can just post images of my most recent works as I finish them. Below are some of my favorite drawings, all of which I made in high school. I wish I could say that I made drawings and/or paintings this beautiful in college but I mainly focused on the 3-D types of art (like jewelry) or basic sketching. Some day, I hope to take some more classes where I can explore color (with some direction).

The pastel drawings of the saxophone below are part of my favorite piece. Our assignment was to take an instrument or utensil and draw one part of it close up in "warm" or "cool" tones (reds, oranges, yellows or blues, greens, purples). As you can see, for this saxophone, I chose "warm" tones. Well, I being the over achiever that I am, haha, finished early, and decided to add three more. Combined, they almost make a whole. I named this piece Autumn Melodies and actually won a great deal of money on it.

The next two drawings below were inspired by my trip to Russia in 2005 (which I briefly spoke about in my other blog: Life As I Know It)

Color Pastel: St. Basil's Cathedral (Red Square, Moscow)

Color pastel drawing of one of my favorite purses and scarves
Color Pastel: Sweetheart Ring from  Blue Heron Jewelry Co
Penguins on scratch board
Colored Pencil: Yoshi, my cat. This was the first piece of art that I made that anyone offered to buy.
Colored Pencil, Charcoal, Colored Pastel, Ink: Every part of this collage was drawn by me, no magazine clippings contrary to popular belief.
